The city of Portland even has a model for a program like this that they ran for decades called the "Storefront Improvement Program" via @prosperportland that helped businesses and property owners maintain their external facades.

Though I may not agree with the net economic benefits of going this route on the semiconductor industry. I would love to see Gov Kotek match this bet with one on main street businesses as well. Like a $10M fund to help Oregon #smallbiz cover the cost of broken doors/windows. https://twitter.com/rogoway/status/1620537687999676416

Mike Rogoway @rogoway

Kotek's budget has $200m in state lottery funds for "for business incentives supporting
advanced manufacturing, including semiconductors, and to leverage federal funds."

She had previously talked $200m-$300m.

Industry boosters seek much more. https://twitter.com/LGunderson/status/1620536132353282050
